Program Overview
Who We Are Residential program on a 516-acre campus between Richmond and Washington D.C. Dual diagnosis treatment for addiction and co-occurring PTSD or trauma. Fishing, hiking, a full gym, art therapy, and a shop — alongside warriors who understand what you’ve been through.
Who It’s For Warriors with active alcohol or substance use. Every veteran, active duty military, or first responder is welcome regardless of discharge status, rank, or record. We do not treat the general public. Every person in the program has served.
What It Costs Tricare and VA Community Care accepted, as well as some commercial insurance. We are an in-network VA Community Care provider. We verify your coverage before you arrive so there are no surprises.

How long is treatment?
The residential program is a minimum of 42 days. That’s what the research supports for lasting recovery from alcohol and substance use. Some warriors stay longer. We’ll talk through what makes sense for you.
Where exactly is the Virginia campus?
Warriors Heart Virginia is located at 20500 Warriors Way, Milford, VA. It’s about 45 miles north of Richmond and within two hours of Washington D.C. No need to fly. Most Virginia veterans drive straight to us.
Do you take my insurance?
VA Community Care covers treatment for eligible veterans. Warriors Heart Virginia is in-network with VA Community Care, Tricare, UHC, UMR, and Optum. Call or use the form to verify your specific coverage.
